As storage costs decline we keep more and more information, but reuse of this content is very low. Worse yet, it seems the only things getting passed on are new which brings into question why do we keep all this stuff? At Vizit we believe the root of this problem lies in two key areas: Discovery and Sharing.

Most organizations have made significant investments into enterprise search yet users are still often heard complaining “I can’t find the information I need”. We see a real disconnect between what enterprise search delivers and what users really seek or need. Enterprise search is good at getting the user to a specific file, but what users seek is held deeper within the file; for example a key passage or exhibit.

To better understand why users only seeking a passage or exhibit you need look no further than how information is shared and consumed. We don’t go seeking information today; we wait for it to come to us. We consume it in small clips and phrases as we go through the day. This is how we stay informed, and search and content management technologies have simply not kept pace with this change in behavior.
