Vizit analyzed imagery from the top-searched category products on Amazon to rank the effectiveness of each brand's imagery with online shoppers.
An AI analysis of hundreds of top-searched laundry detergent product hero and carousel images on Amazon surfaced the most effective product hero and carousel images for online shoppers, as well as distinct visual trends.
Images of detergent containers that were mostly white or transparent averaged significantly higher Vizit scores than those featuring bold colored packaging.
Hero images featuring two containers side by side earned high scores. However, visuals with more overlap between the two products—with one in the foreground and one in the background—tended to be less appealing.
Top scoring hero images included many brands with cool color schemes, featuring lots of blues and whites. All and Amazon Basics used this palette effectively. Conversely, many of the lowest scoring hero images were dominated by reds, oranges, and yellows.
Carousel imagery depicting children taking part in everyday activities was appealing to the general population. All’s carousel imagery is a prime example of this trend in action.
Visuals showing detergent pods dissolving in clear water earned high Vizit scores. Tide and Amazon Basics both use this trend in their image carousels.
Images conveying the fresh scents of the detergent with stylized tablescapes also performed well. Mrs. Meyer’s brand is the main purveyor of this trend.
